About the author
I am Ruth Gunter Mitchell, author of the southern literature novel,
Nothing But The Blood, and newsletter articles, "Grandma's Greetings."
Let me tell you a little about myself. I
was born in Calhoun County in Alabama and have lived there my whole life. I grew up in the community of Eulaton and was graduated
from Wellborn High School in 1963. From there I went on to Jacksonville State College where I earned my bachelor's degree
in Education with a major in English and minor in Economics in 1967. In 1982, I received my Masters Degree with a concentration
in English.
In 1969, I married Gorden Mitchell, an educator and also a former graduate of Wellborn High School.
Gorden and I have two daughters, Tonya and Aundrea, who are both educators. Tonya married Tim Reid, Aundrea married Chris
Blevins, and they have blessed me with beautiful granddaughters. Tonya and Tim are parents of Claudia and Rachel; Aundrea
and Chris have one daughter, Sara.
In January 2001, I retired as an English teacher from the Calhoun County School
System and decided it was time to work on the book that I always knew I would write. In about three months I had finished
the first two of the three parts of Nothing But The Blood. Once I completed that section, I put the book away until 2005
and then brought it out and finished Part III.
I decided to publish through a POD self-publisher, BookSurge.
I chose that particular company because it was a division of Amazon.com.
Presently I am working on a sequel to the
book because many of my readers want to know what happens to some of the characters. Also, I am working on a project in humor
that I really enjoy writing and hope to get that in print someday.
